Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Leh Airport Arrival & Mandatory Acclimatization
Arrive at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport and transfer to your hotel. Due to the sudden high altitude, spend the entire day resting inside your room to minimize acute mountain sickness (AMS). In the late evening, take a very gentle walk to the nearby local Leh Market. Stay: Leh.
Day 2: : Sham Valley Exploration & Confluence View
Drive along the scenic Leh-Srinagar highway. Visit the Hall of Fame Museum, watch your vehicle defy gravity at the mysterious Magnetic Hill, and photograph the grand Sangam (the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers). Stop at the historic Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and watch sunset from the white dome of Shanti Stupa. Stay: Leh.
Day 3: Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass
Scale the rugged hairpins of Khardung La, historically celebrated among the world's highest motorable mountain passes. Descend into the deep valleys to see the massive 106-foot statue at Diskit Monastery. Spend your late afternoon walking across the silver-white cold desert Hunder Sand Dunes and riding the native double-humped Bactrian camels. Stay: Nubra Valley
Day 4: Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso via Shyok River Route
Take the scenic, low-lying wilderness road running parallel to the untamed Shyok River. Arrive at the majestic Pangong Tso, a deep saltwater alpine lake split across the international borders of India and Tibet. Watch the water shift shades from deep turquoise to light azure as sunset breaks over the brown mountain walls. Stay: Eco-Camps or Homestays at Pangon
Day 5: Pangong Tso to Leh via Chang La Pass
Catch the sunrise over the lake before starting the return drive toward Leh. Cross over the steep, snow-covered crest of Chang La Pass. On your descent back into the main valley, stop to tour the multi-tiered architectural marvel of Thiksey Monastery, which closely resembles Lhasa's Potala Palace. Stay: Leh.
Day 6: Leh Departure
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and check out from your hotel room. Transfer directly to the airport terminal for your return flight back home over the snow-capped Himalayan ranges
