Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Delhi to Haridwar / Rishikesh to Govindghat / Joshimath
Morning: Depart early from Delhi (5:00 AM) via NH 334 / NH 07. Afternoon: Drive past the Panch Prayag confluences (Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag) along the Alaknanda River. Evening: Arrive at Joshimath or Govindghat. Check into your hotel, rest, and prepare gear for the trek.
Day 2: Drive to Pulna & Trek to Ghangaria (Base Camp)
Morning: Drive 4 km from Govindghat to Pulna village (the trailhead). Begin the 9 km trek along the Lakshman Ganga River to Ghangaria (3,050 m). Afternoon: Reach Ghangaria base camp by mid-afternoon. Check into a guesthouse or camp. Evening: Attend the mandatory forest orientation or rest for the main valley trek.
Day 3: Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers National Park & Back
Morning: Start early (7:00 AM) to obtain forest permits at the check-post. Cross the Pushpawati River bridge and trek 4 km up to the valley entrance. Afternoon: Spend hours exploring alpine meadows filled with rare species (Blue Poppy, Brahma Kamal, Primula). Enjoy a packed lunch amidst the blossoms. Evening: Trek 4 km back to Ghangaria before park gates close at 5:00 PM.
Day 4: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib (Optional) or Second Valley Exploration
Morning: Trek 6 km steep uphill to Hemkund Sahib (4,329 m) and the glacial lake, or re-visit deeper sections of the Valley of Flowers. Afternoon: Descend back to Ghangaria base camp. Evening: Rest and enjoy a warm meal at Ghangaria.
Day 5: Ghangaria to Pulna/Govindghat & Drive to Pipalkoti / Rudraprayag
Morning: Trek down 9 km from Ghangaria to Pulna. Board local transport back to Govindghat. Afternoon: Board your vehicle and drive down towards Pipalkoti or Rudraprayag (80–120 km drive) to break the long return trip. Evening: Relax at the hotel along the Alaknanda River.
Day 6: Drive Back to Delhi
Morning: Depart early from Rudraprayag/Pipalkoti toward Rishikesh/Haridwar. Evening: Drive down through the plains and reach Delhi by late evening.
