Short answer: Pahalgam sits in the Lidder valley, roughly 90–100 km from Srinagar, about two and a half to three hours by road. From the town, Betaab Valley (about 7 km) and Aru Valley (about 12 km) are the main short trips. Srinagar taxis usually drop you at your Pahalgam hotel; for the inner valleys you hire a Pahalgam union taxi at the posted rates. Practical points
- Plan on staying in Pahalgam at least one night; doing it as a day trip from Srinagar leaves little time in the valleys.
- Budget for a separate local taxi for Betaab and Aru, and confirm the fare at the stand.
- Carry warm layers even in summer; evenings are cool.
