Himachal Honeymoon Itinerary (6 Days)

Short answer: Stay three nights in or near Old Manali, one night in Sissu for the quiet of Lahaul, and finish with two nights at Naggar or, for more seclusion, Jibhi, before travelling home.

Who this plan suits

Couples who would rather unpack three times than six. It skips Shimla deliberately to cut a long drive.

Day by day

Day 1: Arrive Manali; rest, Old Manali

  • Sleep off the journey.
  • Café evening in Old Manali.

Day 2: Hadimba, Vashisht, Jogini falls walk

  • Forest temple in the morning.
  • Easy walk to the falls from Vashisht.

Day 3: Solang; drive to Sissu

  • Solang in the morning.
  • Through the Atal Tunnel; sunset by the Chandra river.

Day 4: Sissu – Manali – Naggar or Jibhi

  • Slow morning in Sissu.
  • Naggar is about an hour beyond Manali; Jibhi is a longer drive of four to five hours.

Day 5: A day with nothing planned

  • Naggar: castle, gallery, orchard walks.
  • Jibhi: waterfall walk, or Jalori Pass and Serolsar lake.

Day 6: Depart

  • Board the bus at Patlikuhl or Aut, or drive down.

Best time for this trip

March to June and October to November are the easiest. December to February suits those who want snow; the Sissu night then depends on the road.

Practical notes

  • Ask for a room with a view and heating, and confirm both in writing.
  • Skip the Sissu night if either of you is unwell at altitude.
  • Travel midweek for quieter stays.
  • Keep the first and last days light.

What it costs

Frequently asked questions

Is Manali good for a honeymoon?

Yes, particularly if you stay away from the Mall Road area and add a quieter stop.

Should we include Shimla?

Only with more days; it adds a seven-to-eight-hour drive.

Which month is best?

October and March–April for fewer people; January for snow.

Do you arrange decorations or special dinners?
